Truly a classic - a thermometer named after the physician Galileo Galilei. The Italien Galileo Galilei discovered in the beginning of the 16th century that the density of liquids changes with the temperature. This knowledge permits the fabrication of the Galileo thermometers. The balls drop or rise in the glass shell depending on the temperature. You can read the temperature from the lowest of the balls swimming on the top of the thermometer
